We live in Florida and fish regularly in salt water, but Alaska was a Bucket List trip. While somewhat skeptical about all the 5-star reviews on TA, I checked Brad's website and liked what I saw, particularly his emphasis on "fun", and we had twp trips of a lifetime with him despite tough weather. As others have commented, he takes care of everything for you in a no-pressure, 'have fun' environment. Plus, as a science/math teacher during the off season, he provided us with tons of interesting and educational information about the world famous Kenai Peninsula and Kenai River, as well as the wildlife that you'll see on the trip.
Most importantly in my opinion, Brad's a true sportsman that loves his job and is a 'good' person that you'll be happy you met.

Living in Alaska means that you have to find the best activities and services for friends and family to engage in when they visit. With that said, Alaska Kenai Fishing for Fun is the way to go! Our guide, James, was incredibly knowledgeable about the Kenai and the fish in it. In addition to his insights and skills, he was pleasant company; both polite and hilarious. My friend, Jessica, and I had a blast! I would highly recommend booking a trip with Fishing for Fun.

My wife and I visited Alaska on our honeymoon. I wanted to fish and she wanted to do a float trip. We decided to both fish for half a day for trout on the Kenai. I reached out to Brad he was real knowledgeable and friendly. He put us at ease , I never fly fished before but have been fresh water fishing my whole life. Brad assured us we would pick it up no problem. We arrived in Coopers Landing and met James who was our guide. we got out on the breathtaking Kenai and were fishing in no time. We had a blast on the river with James! We both picked up on the technique quickly and my wife caught two nice rainbows and I caught a couple Dolly's. Truly an experience of a lifetime, if I could do it over I would go all day. One of the real highlights of a great honeymoon. Any chance I get to go back to Alaska I will be fishing with Brad or James, fishing for fun is an understatement. These guys are very passionate about fishing and have a good time teaching folks like us.

From start to finish, this trip was simply awesome! My brother invited my teenage boys to float trip fish the Kenai River with Brad and Fishing for Fun. What a great day! Brad found us a beautiful campsite the night before the trip and made sure we were well outfitted for the day of fishing (waders, fishing gear, etc.). We didn't catch any silvers, but caught nice-size Dollies and Rainbows, and even a few red salmon, all day long until our arms were about to fall off. My son even caught a nice 'Bow just as we were pulling into the landing at the end of the day! Brad is a great guide--he works hard to put you where the fish are and even taught my two boys so much about the river and fishing in general. We will definitely be back with Brad next year, and I have already encouraged many of my friends to start booking him for next summer. Catching fish is never a guarantee, but I do guarantee you'll have a blast with these guys!

My first time to Alaska, didn't have a clue where to go or what to do. I just wanted to catch fish. Brad was referred to me by a friend. Just after talking to him on the phone, I knew he was the kind of guide I was looking for. Did 2-day trips with Brad, one on the Kasilof and one on the Kenai River. His expertise and equipment were top notch. On top of that, we caught lots of fish. Having a good guide was not the only thing I was looking for. Brad was a lot of fun to hang with for 2 days. I recommend him highly!!!

The whole trip was fun from the beginning to end. We were laughing the whole time. They really made us feel at home in this beautiful setting! They also accommodated my brother who is handicapped. If you are looking to feel at home, fish, catch, and look at the beautiful Alaskan setting, then this is the company you want to book with!

My wife and I spent a half day with James drifting down the Kenai in early July 2016. It had been raining for several days leading up to the trip but the skies opened up and gave us beautiful sunny weather for the whole day. We don't have a lot of experience fly fishing but we still had an awesome time. James was very helpful and patient with improving our casts. We spent time fishing from the boat and also wading into the river, catching Rainbows and Dollys. Beautiful scenery, great spot for viewing bald eagles. James was excellent. Easy and fun to talk to and learn from. You can tell they are passionate about what they do and just wanted us to have a good experience. This was easily one of our favorite days during our 2 weeks in Alaska. Highly recommend them to others. If we make it back up to Alaska we plan to take another trip down the Kenai with these guys.

This was a "Wish" adventure! We are a family of 6 ranging in ages of 12-62 and each one of us agree that this was the most relaxing and fun adventure on our trip. Brad and James became our brothers on this day! The scenery was absolutely amazing and the assistance fishing was so helpful. We had a lot of laughs.

My husband and I went fly fishing with Brad in early July 2016. We did the Upper Kenai River trip for the day and fished for Rainbow Trout and Dolly Varden (catch and release). We have never been fly fishing before and we had a really good experience. Brad was a great instructor. He was very patient and helped put us in spots to catch 1 Dolly Varden and 4-5 Rainbow Trout. We also somehow also managed to reel in 1 big rock over the course of the day. :) The river itself is surrounded by beautiful mountains and trees and is quite picturesque. The weather was not ideal the day we went out-- it rained the whole day and was in the mid-50s. We wore our rain jackets and Brad provided waders and boots. We somehow managed to stay pretty dry and still had a great time despite the weather. The fish were still out biting in the rain. :) Thanks Brad for a great day! We highly recommend Alaska Kenai Fishing for Fun!

I spent a day fly-fishing for rainbow trout on the beautiful Russian River, just above its confluence with the Kenai River. While many people come to the Kenai to catch salmon, and I was only interested in fishing for rainbows, and the guys at Alaska Kenai Fishing for Fun helped me find exactly what I was looking for. Beautiful rainbows in clear, rushing water. I caught and released four fish and had opportunities for many more.
Because I was traveling from North Carolina I had to use the company's gear; it was first-rate. My guide was knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, patient.

The four of us spent the morning with James on the pristine Kenai fishing for Salmon. Let me start with saying that as a first time visitor to Alaska, words can not express the beauty of this place.
James was very nice and informative while paddling us down the river. The gear provided was top notch, and the instructions on how to fish this area were explained so a novice could understand.
He spent extra time with my son and since the water was up and moving fast, allowed him to stand in the boat and fish instead of wading. I realize that most guides are there to help you catch fish, but there is something special about this company. A two man outfit that goes out of its way to make it personalized. In this day and time there need to be more people like these guys.
I spent months researching this vacation. Save yourself some valuable time. Yes, come to Alaska, and most certainly book a trip with this outfit. I certainly hope to be back one day.

Checklist for great fishing guides: 1. know where the fish are hiding and how to catch them 2. are patient if you are a beginner or need to learn a new technique 3. are fun to talk to since you're in a boat with them all day 4. make that extra effort to help you catch a fish by rowing back over that fishy spot one more time 5. willing to hook you up with another great guide if unfortunately, you can't book them. You can put a check mark in every box for Brad and James ... they are fantastic!

"My wife and I spent a fantatstic day on the Kenai fly fishing for salmon and rainbows with Brad last August. He was the most thoughtful, caring and most importantly, knowledgeable guide about the whole region. I am sure this comes form his teaching background and career, which translates into an exceptional fishing guide during the fishing season on the Kenai. My wife, whom had fly fished on light fly tackle before, was instantly rewarded with several huge Salmon that she landed on an 8 weight and won't soon forget. We are looking forward to visiting this beautiful place with Brad again next summer.
He will not only put you on the fish, but he will insure that your fishing trip ranks up there on the fun, family and friendly factor list as well. A fishing trip on the Kenai with Brad should be on everyone's bucket list, and I would sincerely recommend him to anybody considering a trip to the Kenai River."

"Had an awesome time with James. This is my second time out with fishing for fun and both times were a blast. This is a great way to enjoy the Kenai and do some world class fishing. Hands down they are the best, we'll be going back next year!"
